Lumineers for a Tooth Gap?
Posted by writeradmin
I need some advice. I have a rather large tooth gap. My dentist mentioned about 9 millimeters. We were going to do snap-on smile. We’d done all the planning and my dentist sent the order off. Then, we got a letter from the company saying that I wasn’t a good candidate. So, now he is suggesting Lumineers. They are much more expensive than the snap-on smile I was originally planning on. I feel like I am too old for braces, so I am willing to do the Lumineers. I just want to make sure they are actually worth the cost.

Dear Brandon,
Please do not do Lumineers for this. First, the size of your tooth gap is substantial. 9mm is almost the width of a tooth. It would take a cosmetic dentist extraordinary skill to make that look right. If your dentist is recommending Lumineers, than I would not think he’d be an expert cosmetic dentist. While simply a brand of porcelain veneers, this particular brand is heavily marketed to inexperienced cosmetic dentists as being easy to place. Though dentists who are skilled at cosmetics find that the Lumineers lab does not produce beautiful results. They certainly wouldn’t suggest that particular brand.
The good news is, there is a better and much less expensive option that will actually close the tooth gap. You do not have to get braces. Instead, I suggest you get Invisalign. This uses clear aligners to straighten your teeth, instead of metal wires and brackets. In fact, no one will even know you are straightening your teeth, even at a conversational distance.
They have an extra benefit too. The aligners can double as teeth whitening trays. You just simply ask your dentist to provide you with the professional strength whitening gel that you can wear in the aligners at a time most convenient to you. Before you know it, you will have a straight, white smile without any gaps.
